About Dr Brandon M Holtzhausen
My journey as a chiropractic practitioner began with a scenic detour. Since school, I had always been passionate about biology and science and thus began my studies at the University of Witwatersrand where I completed a bachelor’s degree in science, majoring in both human anatomy and animal, plant and environmental sciences. Upon completing my degree, I was at a crossroads on what my next step ought to be. It just so happened that whilst at this junction of a life decision, I injured my shoulder working out at the gym and after a failed attempt of sorting out the injury with a prescribed cortisone injection, I ended up at a chiropractic practitioner. I was astounded at how this doctor, being authentic, passionate and relatable could fix my injury with nothing but his hands. Before the session was over, my mind was made up. The universe led me to the inspiration that I needed for my next move and without a glimpse of doubt, I embarked on my chiropractic journey. I knew that this was how my soul wanted to make a difference in this world.
When I was in second year of the chiropractic degree, I didn't know which way to turn my head I was so busy. Between work, university and a life-changing event, I willfully powered through until my body spoke back and my other shoulder got injured whilst working out. Knowing the drill this time, I went straight to the chiropractor but this time I ended up with a mind altering experience of what chiropractic is in its fullness. I thought it was a mere shoulder injury like the last one but I was wrong. The sessions released a cascade of emotions and unprocessed traumas that I had bottled up; the shoulder injury was a manifestation of everything else going on in my life that I was ignoring. The inward journey that this experience led me on is the crux of what I believe chiropractic has the power to do for anyone. This experience amongst mentorship with the same chiropractor was the fuel that got me through some of the toughest times I had to face. Chiropractic helped me physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. I finished my chiropractic degree at the University of Johannesburg in 2023 with a bachelor’s in health sciences- chiropractic and a master’s in health sciences- chiropractic, which I gratefully received a distinction for my dissertation: Spinal Variations Associated With Lumbosacral Transitional Vertebrae.
I have served the community of Johannesburg since 2022. I have experience as a master's chiropractic student treating patients at the University of Johannesburg Chiropractic Clinic for two years and as an assistant clinician for one year. I am thankful to have been part of the various chiropractic teams that treated athletes at various sports events, including the Arnold Classic Africa and ABSA Cape Epic. I treat people of all ages, from children to the elderly.
